A Guardian of Sustainable Earth: Group Chairman John T. Yu Clinches the "Taiwan Circular Economy Hero Award"

The 2022 winners of the Center for Green Economy of the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research's "Taiwan Circular Economy Awards" were announced; CTCI Group Chairman John T. Yu led the group to promote circular economy and achieve sustainable excellence through "Green Engineering" and "Net Zero EPC," and won the Hero award. The award ceremony was held on September 30. Group Chairman John T. Yu accepted the award personally.

This is the first award in Taiwan that focuses on the circular economy. Through the best practices of domestic enterprises, this award invites more enterprises to invest in technology, goods, services and business model in relation to the circular economy, creating a miracle in Taiwan's circular economy and allowing the efforts of Taiwan's enterprises in sustainable development to be internationally visible.

Chairman John T. Yu said, "CTCI promises to be a guardian of sustainable Earth." Before the term "circular economy" appeared in Taiwan, CTCI was working with "energy from waste." CTCI designed and built the first large-scale waste incineration plant in Taiwan. CTCI was also responsible for investment, design, construction and operation of "TSMC Southern Taiwan Science Park Water Reclamation Plant," the world's first industrial waste water recycling to semiconductor manufacturing process which was recently completed.

In response to the trend of energy transformation, CTCI has also shown excellent results in the fields of solar photovoltaics, offshore wind power and natural gas, and fulfilled the "net zero EPC" objective with "green engineering" expertise. It can be said that CTCI's contemplation of business development and promotion revolves around creating a sustainable Earth.

CTCI is committed to the sustainability of the core industry and vigorously develops green business opportunities through the three major aspects of "green engineering": green technology, green investment, and green contracting. Using low-carbon and environmental engineering as example, the amount of backlog of contracts has increased by 450% from 2015 to 2021. In order to attain the vision of net zero emissions in 2050 promptly, CTCI leads the industry to actively promote "net zero EPC," proposes energy-saving and carbon reducing green technology solutions for all stages of the EPC turnkey projects, cooperating with partners to build a low-carbon supply chain. CTCI also does industry-university-research cooperation to invest in the development and application of net zero carbon emissions, hydrogen energy and other technologies. Looking to the future, CTCI will continue to expand the impact of sustainable engineering and create a win-win situation for both the economy and the environment.
